I just finished this book so I need more time to sit with it, but how I would describe this...
Season 1 of American Horror Story (Murder House) with a lot less murder and horror (but don't get it twisted, there's murder) and more beautiful language centering nature (specifically New England) and human relationships. Very engaging. Also reminded me of Overstory by Richard Powers.

I haven't cried like I cried reading this book in a long time.

This is one of the best books I've read in a very long time. Beautiful writing. I felt like I stopped at every page to underline a sentence. A new favorite. 

Okay well this was amazing. I liked The Late Americans, but I LOVED this. 

Rooney does it again. So so good. 

A really important and informative read. 

Definitely a different tone and story telling strategy than she normally uses, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

So happy I finally read this. 

DNF @ 44% it’s okay but it wasn’t catching my attention and 2025 is the year of not finishing books I’m not feeling. 

Welp…what this guy just snuck into my top reads of 2024. With four days to spare.
