Wow!!! Just wow!

What a stunning debut novel for Allison!  I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down.  You are immersed in a dark, intriguing fantasy romance from the very first page.  The world-building is beyond incredible and really stands out from many other novels of this type.  I couldn't get enough of the badass FMC, and felt like I was right there with her through her trials and adventures.  The magic system is unique and I really hope that it gets expanded on in future books. I felt like a twist was coming at the end of the book and was not disappointed.  Now I'll be waiting on pins and needles for the follow-up to be released!  Allison is now on my must-read list!

I read all three books in this series back-to-back and this one was my favourite of the series.  I loved the small-town backdrop of this series.  I feel like I'm swept away to Balsam River every time I turn the page.  This is a low-spice, closed-door, enemies-to-lovers story with lots of heart.  While romance is the central story, this book is also about friendships, family, and community.  The love story felt authentic, filled with conflict and growth, and the happy ending was well-earned.
