A gothic horror that fell a little flat. It is very atmospheric and I loved the eccentricity of the story, but that was about it. Slow burns can be great, but I found the characters to be very dull and this one was too slow. It took away some of the enjoyment. However, enter creepy house and mysterious family that kept me interested in the strange occurrences. The effects of the house were very creepy which still made it an enjoyable read.
