I just didn't connect with the story and it became background noise.
I was bored. I really tried... maybe it's better in print?
Because my book when from page 26 to page 59. It's a 1995 print I picked up 2nd hand.
I just couldn't connect to the characters and the whole story became background noise and my brain refused to focus on it.
Well, this is a COMPANION story to the movie. Not all a "book that inspired a movie".
It was dry and slow.

DID NOT FINISH: 45%
It was just repetitive, whoa is me. And if I had to hea that they sucked their teeth and brush again....
By chapter 6 I had more characters than I knew what to do with. Just didn't draw me in.
I felt like the story dragged. I really enjoyed the audio and the narration was very good, it just got too long.
