We're all different, and that's great! Each of us needs to know that we are enough in who we are created to be, no matter what that looks like. I really loved the artwork in this one, and the way it portrayed a diversity of characters (in race, age, ability, etc).
I think the best descriptor here is raw and unapologetic. I'm not sure how to summarise this collection of essays other than to say that it's real and not always cute. Morgan skewers with her words and it can be both a surprise and a delight throughout.
Whew, this was a lot. I listened to it on audio (because I think the best way to take in anyone's story is through their own voice). In this book, Roxane Gay is open, honest, and vulnerable about her body and all the things in her life that have contributed to the person she is today (physically and emotionally). As usual, she's not afraid to go deep into the messiness of being a person in the world, and at times, I almost felt like a voyeur listening in on a very private conversation.
It's cute, it rhymes, it has a great message. What more could you want?
So great. I'm here for romance with realistic characters with complex identities and fully realized personalities. Jasmine Guillory is excellent at giving us a great story with unique features.
Very weird, amazingly well-written and translated, and very interesting
