idk man most historical fiction just isnt doing it for me rn. + i was having a hard time remembering all the characters (multiple POV’s plus there were many characters introduced). this definitely for some people just not for me!!

ik this only says 2%, but ive gotten much farther into this book once before but dnf’ed and. yknow. i still dont like it so im not going to put myself through trying it again.

this books feels like a parody, almost, of dark academia. really just didnt work for me :/ one bit where i felt that it really shined was the descriptions of nyc, those were extremely well written and made me feel like i was there (and ive never been to nyc so thats a pretty cool achievement)!!

patrick’s death needed to happen much earlier in the story, with it happening so far in it felt like absolutely nothing was happening. also: ann and rachel needed to be queer. as i was reading i was getting enough ~vibes~ that i was like “hmm.. this feels sapphic” and couldnt help putting that sort of reading in. also leo is a piece of cardboard masquerading as a man. im sorry he just had no personality
