cute book, i feel slightly nitpicky about the time loop aspects (wouldve been cool if it were more explained) but overall i quite liked this :D

the synopsis and the actual plot really dont match:
•i don’t understand why claire and chris are so scared when, like,,, claire has known her best friend, sophia, since they were both four. sophia came out as trans when she was six. if claire’s parents never were weird about that i feel like its a pretty good assumption that they aren’t homophobic.
•claire being “caught between two loves” or whatever the synopsis says really just doesn’t happen. there is no major conflict with Pen and and Pen just gets forgotten about in the plot pretty much.
•Lena was barely there, and she tells no stories about “growing up gay in the fifties and sixties”. she tells maybe two stories, and they both take place when shes an adult.
just in general a frustrating book where i had a very difficult time really caring about any of the characters.

no but seriously this is a strange surreal fantasy masterpiece and i adore it

i barely know what to say about this book, but it has destroyed me.
the marketing for this failed spectacularly, i put off reading this for so long cause it just seemed like a quirky gay astronaut romance set in space and ITS NOT THAT. yes the romance is lovely (look im ace and on the aro spectrum but MAN i have a thing for kodiak. my god what a guy) but its also philosophical and a thriller and i fucking love this book so much i cried and also THE AUDIOBOOK NARRATION IS FANTASTIC
honestly its not surprising that i love this cause i also love stucky :))) so not surprising at all that im unwell over kodiak i love him ohmygodohmygodohmygod

dnf’ing because i desperately need to go back and reread i am the beast and the beast is me so i won’t be so confused

i love the format of this book, the usage of second person and the fact that its all addressed to fatima
not my favorite book of the year but easily in my top ten

for most of this, i was really enjoying the story. its a banger !! the ending was a big fumble for me at least though,

it just doesn’t make sense to me that what Sol would do is run for HOA president and join the cult. the story did not make her out to be someone who would do that. and three months later shes just totally all-in on the cult??? i do not buy it.
