sweet, but incredibly short. hope there will be a sequel!!
this was super good!! i love how color was used and the fact that this focused on Thien’s entire family, not just himself.
the time skips could’ve been done more smoothly (they were very jarring) but everything else about Family Style is amazing

majorly not holding my attention and i dislike Colton. not gonna push myself through the rest.
yknow sometimes i worry that i give too many 5 star ratings out but who cares!! this is my storygraph and i can do what i want!!
this book was awesome. took a bit for me to get into, but at a point it becomes very 'Hell Followed With Us' which was super cool. also the atmosphere was amazing :))
im now going to just drop several quotes to try and convince you to read this:

im now going to just drop several quotes to try and convince you to read this:
Sometimes we need people to hunt the things inside of us that need to die but that we aren't ready to kill.
"I don't think I know what it means to be a girl," I say. "so nothing ever felt too weird, because everything always is weird."
"The future is trans. The future is nonbinary. The future is soup."
I am not a boy or a girl. Do you know the shape of water? Do you know clouds, and mountains, or every bud of wisteria at the height of spring? Your eyes follow me but you've never really seen me.
gonna be honest, that final quote is one of my favorite quotes ever (also really hits me hard with having recently figured out that i'm genderqueer. man this book overall hit hard)
this was an absolutely wild ride. would’ve loved to have more perspectives than just Devin’s and Ollie’s (i need a Hannah perspective!!! oh my god i need a Hannah pov so badly!!!)

the more i think about this book, the more i love the creativity in it. sometimes novellas have issues but the creativity can mostly outshine them, and this is a good example of that imo.
the best part of The Four Profound Weaves is easily the two main characters. it’s pretty uncommon to find a book with even one elderly trans character, much less two, so that was wonderful.
this is described as a standalone, but it’s very much not. felt like i had jumped into a story partway through. i’d heavily recommend you read some of R.B. Lemberg’s other Birdverse work before picking this up

very glad that one of my book clubs got me to pick up this book!! extremely understandable, makes a lot of sense, and includes specifics of ways that the world can change to make it better (and less debt-filled). awesome read, would highly recommend
