ik this only says 2%, but ive gotten much farther into this book once before but dnf’ed and. yknow. i still dont like it so im not going to put myself through trying it again.
idk man just really couldn’t get into this one. the writing style bored me and i couldn’t stand Valora as a character. also i accidentally picked up two Titanic books and began reading them around the same time (this and A Million To One by Adiba Jaigirdar) and i just find that AMTO is clicking with me a lot better than this currently.
Entangled Life: How Fungi Make Our Worlds, Change Our Minds & Shape Our Futures
DID NOT FINISH: 11%
idk man. i was trying to read this for fun but it just felt a little too intensely-into-the-science vs. just-having-fun for me
got this without having to place a hold after seeing it on Libby through their Together We Read program, and i thought “why not”. turns out i really didnt like it :/ despised the main character and just was getting really awful vibes around the way the character of Bobak was being handled. now im past when the book was extremely available, someone was waiting for it in libby, my libby hold on Cemetery Boys had just come in and i decided not to subject myself to this book any longer :/
to preface: can’t put a true star rating for this book as i dnf’ed it, but i would give it 1.5 stars.
i was so excited to read this book :/ it just seriously didn’t work for me. first of all, this book has a cheating trope. which, as someone who almost never reads romance, i had no idea that that was a trope. ew. also, i can appreciate that Olivie Blake wrote this from an ownvoices perspective on the bipolar representation in this, but for a book where the point seemed to be, “Regan is fine off of her medications. they don’t let her ✨feel✨ like she wants to”, she absolutely was not stable. i just don’t get it. im reminded of a Will Wood quote (paraphrasing here, i don’t remember it exactly), where he was talking about the “medications for mental illness vs creativity” debate and said something like “does it matter more whether im making art or if im well?” (again, paraphrasing, i may be a bit off but i think that was the gist of it). despite all this, im very happy for the people who love this book!! it just seriously does not work for me. but the .5 star is for Aldo because he and Masso are the only aspects of this book i liked. anyways i’m headcanoning Aldo as autistic bye :)

this book just really wasn’t working for me. feel like i had a different idea of what the story would be, from the synopsis and cover :/
thought this was a different book when i picked it up at the library, and just unfortunately felt disappointed every time i looked at it afterwards. might try and finish it sometime when i have the mindset for it though
