i really like this, but it’s nearly due to go back to my library and trying to read it quickly before returning it is hurting my brain
soft dnf. audiobook isn’t working for me but i like the story and characters. going to borrow an ebook or print copy sometime to read it with my eyes instead :)
god i hate starting out my 2024 with two dnfs in a row but its the right decision :/ i loved this book so much at the beginning, but once past maybe the 30% point (not sure exactly, but somewhere thereabouts) it just started to drag slower and slower. the wordiness (there were so many words i had to look up to understand their meaning) slowed down everything and eventually just made me start to glaze over and miss information. so with this + my copy from the library being overdue, im not going to be finishing this. i do adore Iz and Warren as characters though, especially Warren. each of their interactions was my favorite part of the book
this book felt very mistitled :/ with the title “a day in the life”, i’d expected a deep dive into the day of the accident itself, but that really was not was this book was. it’s still absolutely good! my expectations were just for something different and i can’t quite mentally adjust to it.
gonna come back to this at somepoint as a physical copy rather than audio. i’m loving it, but this timeline/amount of characters feels so jarring and trying to relax and recover from a concussion while listening to this is absolute hell. need a physical copy so i can more easily reference characters and past events.
might try this again if i get access to a physical copy, as an ebook its just an incredible slog (glad i got this through libby and not purchased). also cannot get over the uncomfortable “we refer to each other as brother and sister but i had a crush on her once” thing. ew ew ew
