Hmmm...a fairly decent memoir I suppose. I happened to read it at the same time the film about her then-husband Christopher Wallace came to theaters. It was nice to have a second opinion to the film, but I honestly wouldn't have put this on my list of books to desperately read...I wasn't that interested in Faith Evans's life & I honestly can't tell you why I read the book.
Everyone once in a while I like to pick up a good urban lit book...something that's comical, entertaining and doesn't require too much thought. I enjoy Deja King's books simply because they fulfill this need - an interesting plot with flat characters is enough to relax my mind tougher books like The Sound and the Fury, so if you're interested in finding a quick read to take your mind away from the daily routine of normality - pick up The Bitch is Back or any of the books in Deja King's The Bitch... series, I'm certain you'll enjoy them.
I'm a Nikki Turner fan, so I'm a bit biased with this review - I absolutely love her urban lit novellas...they're interesting quick reads that relax the mind.
This definitely was not my favorite urban lit book & I don't think it would make it into my top 10. Unfortunately I found the story a bit slow - maybe there's another book that provided more background to this one because at many parts of the novel I found myself a bit confused. I'm not too sure why that is either. Swinson took the time to elaborate on all those things, but the book itself was a bit bizarre in its plot sequence.
