Well it seems I messed up and listened to a different version from the original Witness for the prosecution and other stories collection. The stories in this audio narration by Christopher Lee included:
1. The witness for the prosecution
2. The mystery of the blue jar
3. Red signal
4. SOS
5. The fourth man

I have a feeling the first story was cut severely so I'll be reading the original to form a proper opinion on the stories. All I know is the witness for the prosecution is an example of being an extreme ride or die, the blue jar mystery was kind of fun to read, since it was interesting seeing someone being so obviously scammed from a third person pov, red signal was predictable though that initial angst and yearning was so good, SOS was meh but the atmosphere was great and the fourth man was Wuthering heights esque, except with so much more of a toxic abusive dynamic between the two girls. I did like how all the stories had the theme of the psychological makeup of the mind.

Finally I can review this,
All I have to say is I know the ending might leave a lot of people confused but it makes so much sense considering the main character is mentally ill and when you're in the depths of it, it can seem like the best choice to make. I too whilst reading this was in the thick of it, and I thought it was such a fitting ending and almost beautiful because I would have made that decision too if I was the mc, because the other character's story and troubles were so compelling, add that onto the main character's debilitating deep low self esteem and the self-sacrificing makes sense. It's not the right decision, but it made sense for the character to do, and that was the dark part of this thriller, the way they were pushed into that state. Anyway it's been a while since I've read this but the ending really stuck out to me so I had to come back to review this.
