I’m not eating the book until I read the original version in a few years time. It was beautiful and moving regardless.

Very quick and easy to read
The motive is very obvious but the killer is not that obvious. The short pace and the constant action meant it never got boring. Though you don’t really feel any of the fear the other characters are experiencing probably you don’t feel connected to them as we didn’t really get any background into any of them.

Despite a potential love triangle being added and getting to see jealous Ichimura, I didn’t get as many butterflies.

And this where we reach stellar levels of writing
Celphi has grown to express himself and it’s thanks to Perry. That conversation with Theo where he said he felt neglected and disliked by him and that sending him away and not acknowledging him ‘for his own sake’ was not something he wanted was good, I need more. And Perry, her finding out her father died from the family’s blood poison and feeling like she wants to hate them and the duke because all her problems have stemmed from their curse but she is attached and cares for them was soo well done. And then again with showing her withdraw from them a bit as she embarks on a trip where she experience depression and grief all over again. And then again when the trial starts and she has to contend with revealing the secret of the curse to get Justice for her father and she contemplates that the family has hurt innocent people with their blood and pursuing justice at the expense of the family’s reputation would be right, it’s almost her right to do so considering no compensation or retribution has been made. And that conflict with the innocent children like Celphi and Islette that would be made vulnerable and in harms way if the family reputation were to crumble. That cognitive dissonance was just so well done I was in awe. It’s been soo long since I’ve read a Webtoon or a novel that really lets the main character sit with their feelings, feel contradictory stuff, still feel hesitant and untrusting and loving and worried all at once without rushing anything for the sake of the plot or romance. I just loved it.
