WHY IS THIS BOOK SERIES NOT MORE POPULAR?? I am reeling from that ending and need Book 3 NOW! The Thunderhead is one of my new favorite characters.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me a digital ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.
I was really excited to read this because I have always been fascinated by Native American culture. I greatly enjoyed that aspect of the book and wish even more of it had been included. I also enjoyed the different points of view in the book and Ace's love for her autistic little brother.
I struggled with the insta-love between Ace and John and Ace's mother constantly forcing her on Cameron. The dialogue was pretty cheesy a lot of the time but who's to say that it wasn't just a product of being teenagers.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-Arc copy of this novel.
3.5 stars. Serena's time in Maine seemed rushed and and glossed over, especially since we end up seeing her Uncle again. I found it pretty strange that 2 such close friends also didn't talk at all over the summer. I hoped for more of an explanation as to why Serena completely changed her attitude towards school once she returns. The middle felt a little slow and a lot of it seemed unnecessary, aka the cheer-leading fiasco, but I enjoyed reading about her upward mobility project and liked Mr. C.
Overall, I like the writing style and the author nailed the small town-ness.
