This wasn't very readable as an e-arc because the lines ran together but I waited for publication and read it as an e-book and it was significantly better. I'm surprised to say I really enjoyed it! This was my first "verse" read and it's a great way to tell the story.
Thanks so much to Netgalley, Edelweiss and the publisher for the e-arc.

Continuation of an excellent fantasy series so far! I'll immediately be starting the 3rd book.
This was so good! The Japanese background is delightful and nicely executed. It's a short book but despite that, Shou and Masaru were very interesting to read about and I'm very curious about Katashi and Yosuke. It's a fast paced, intriguing read and I can't wait for the 2nd book!
I received an early e-arc of this in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't a huge fan of this book and considered DNF-ing a few times. A lot of the dialogue was hard to read, particularly with Lilla's father and the "swears" made it difficult to take seriously. I liked Arrov, Callum, and the Teryn's in general but disliked most of the other characters. The pacing wasn't very consistent either and I had a hard time with some of the names, the Dark Lord of Destruction, otherwise referred to as "DLD" in particular.
I'm generally a lenient reviewer but this book just was not for me. I read mostly scifi and fantasy too so it's not a genre issue.
It has a gorgeous cover at least!

Not a lot happened in the 1st half of the book and while that's usually a negative, it was my favorite part of the book. The 2nd half felt all over the place and really dragged on. The Circe comparison is accurate for me as I was also underwhelmed by it. I love mythology and retellings so both should have been right up my alley and in the beginning, I loved them but by the end I was struggling to stay interested. The portrayal of Loki was great and Marvel has clearly ruined me because I couldn't not picture Tom Hiddleston.
That being said, the cover is absolutely gorgeous and the author's writing is enjoyable.

This was such a delightful read. I was utterly transported to another time and place and couldn't put it down. Jana's life is filled with adventure, love, loss and heartache. I couldn't imagine being a Company Daughter and the ordeals they faced. This is a must-read for historical fiction lovers!
I'm also so surprised that the entire idea for the story was inspired by a footnote.

This might have been better than ACOMAF. Cassian has stolen my heart from Rhysand and I have a feeling Azriel will do the same. I wasn't excited for a Nesta book but she did not disappoint!
And talk about steamy!!! Oh my goodness. No wonder SJM won't let her family read these. My mom loved the trilogy and I pretend she just didn't read Chapter 55. I don't even want to tell her this book exists.
I found it interesting that the book was still in 3rd person but the extra Feysand chapter had Feyre speaking in 1st person. That Azriel chapter ðŸ˜

Given the reading rut I've been in and the fact that urban-y type paranormal isn't my usual genre, I'm very surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Thanks so much to pridebooktours for giving me the opportunity to read and review this! It's not something I would ordinarily have picked up but that cover sold me.

This book was a struggle for me, made more obvious by the fact that is took over 3 months for me to finish it. I can't pinpoint anything specifically other than the fact that I was generally uninterested the whole time. I anticipated 1920's Shanghai to be a hit with me but it didn't come into play very much. The Roma-Juliette relationship was rather lackluster, the plot was repetitive. I eventually switched to an audiobook about halfway through and that wasn't much better. A swing and a miss for me unfortunately.

This was not all I'd hoped it would be. The first two-thirds had me assuming it would be a 3 star read but the last third picked up and got it an extra star. I found it difficult to relate to the characters and wanted more face time with the gods.
