Never--and I mean never...read a Jay Kristoff book and think you'll be okay with it ending and you not having the sequel with you. You'll always end up being these dogs:

I love this series so much. Aru is the most pure character! I love the crews she always ends up in. Great characters, good plot. I think I liked this more than the second in the series but less than the first one.
Damn I was seriously deprived of something in childhood by not going to a boarding and/or haunted school. I loved that middle grade books with a group of friends that ARE NOT ALL WHITE is so much more available nowadays. The kids were wonderful and so damn smart. Such a weird and fun setting.

Wow okay so this was my first book written in verse.
I was lucky enough to go to Berlin for school in 2012 where I got to visit the Sophie and Hans memorial. It's small but just important so I'd suggest going if you get the opportunity.
It's disappointing how few people know about what Sophie and the White Rose resistance did. It's disappointing that their deaths weren't a catalyst for change. It's disappointing our world is circling back to Nazi's being a thing because apparently, we learnt fuck all from World War II.
I think wondering "how the hell did people let things get like that" is always something we'll wonder about genocides especially which is why this book is important. Just because you aren't the target, doesn't mean it's not your problem. We forget that so often as humans until that evil or government suddenly sets its eyes on us.
Basically:
-fuck Nazis
-fuck bigots
-fuck the state of Georgia
-use your fucking voice and privilege to make a better world

You know, if authors could stop hurting me with books...that'd be super appreciated.
This was so cool and fascinating to read after how Foundryside ended. I love the cast sooooo much but I definitely have trust issues now.

Whoa okay I loved this! Devoured it in a few hours. I remember reading the summary and thinking "...what's up with so many people accidentally killing others" but I can totally get behind the purposeful killing of the thug at the beginning. Loved the topics it covered. While they are serious, the book isn't too heavy and is digestible. The characters are all developed well enough that they didn't blur together and Charlotte somehow made me not hate Violet by the end of it which is a task on it's own.

How is there not more talk about this book?! I'm insanely impressed with this debut! The nonstop cat and mouse game + sexual tension was EXACTLY what my body and soul needed. There was no toying around with the attraction the way a lot of YA enemies to lovers go. I am...shocked to say I also enjoyed this triangle thing. I just want more! My only beef with this is I didn't see much of a peek in terms of plot. It's definitely a "setting things up for books 2 and 3" type of book which I know isn't for everyone but there's a lot of character development, world and political/social development plus a sassy female character. The ending kinda shook me too. I will absolutely be picking up book 2 and I cannot wait for Swati to join the TBR & Beyond Book Club on Facebook live.
