Ugh! *Rolls eyes so hard that I go temporarily blind*

This book was a 3.5 until that stupid STUPID STUPID! last chapter.

It's decent if you don't think too hard about it but don't expect any originality with the ending *groans exhausted*

Definitely not the worst books that I read.

I think some of the characters actions weren't consistent throughout based on their personalities nor did I buy the romance BUT I liked the plot. Reminded me of Stargate or Star Wars or Firefly or...one of them space shows with portals.

I'll definitely pick up the sequel

The only way I can think to explain this book is...that it's so sweet and heartwarming and makes me feel warm and calm.

I loved all the different perspectives and really enjoyed getting to follow them through several years (which surprised me since large time jumps normally bother me). I just wanna hug this book and go to sleep smiling.

Oh phew! I didn't hate it.

Now the writing and Katniss were much more basic than I remember BUT I still love Peeta. I kinda wanna watch the movie today...hm...🤔🤔🤔

I received an eARC through NetGalley

This book hovers between a 3.5 and 3.75 for me.

I absolutely love this cover however...I feel like it's darker than the actual book was.

Now I feel like this is going to sound like a harsh review but I really did enjoy the book! I got through it in like a day and a half and I will definitely read the companion novel!

I enjoyed how the small combat scenes were written but I found myself a little let down with how the ending fight was written. I was holding my breathe and then...I realized that was it...I was so confused. I turned the page back a few times to make sure I didn't accidentally skip a page.

I really struggled with the romances in this book. While I enjoyed them and who they were between...I don't know that they were all necessary. I even found myself annoyed with how one ended in particularly (it was too clean. This is a viking novel! I didn't come here for that!). Also, can we please stop having books in YA that go into graphic detail of battle, violence and killing...then have every romance scene be "and fade to black." I just read about you decapitating someone in a battle...I can handle you having a consensual romantic relationship!

The world building, politics and spiritual aspects were under done. I hope more of this will be done in the companion. There wasn't enough definition given to show how the two sides were different. They believe in a different central god but that's all I got!

The main conflict with Iri...ugh, I just didn't buy it! There's been several generations of conflict based on religion! Families were massacred! You're rivals...the Iri story didn't really make sense. Either down play the religious/political rivalry or put more time into story and relationship development--not just Iri's story but also what evolves with Iri's father in the last 1/4 of the book.

But like I said, I DID ENJOY THIS BOOK!

Thank you for the eARC!

Ugh I feel bad because my friend recommended this to me but I didn’t love this book.

The writing was fine but I continued to lose interest in the book as it went on. I feel like the morals and lessons just got repetitive with each new book and I just started skim my in the last 1/4 so I could finish.

I received an ARC of this book through work.

Hi yea, I'd like to start a religion around this book.

I have not read a book this good and addictive in a very long time. It's absolutely amazing! The ending was...well shit got real, let's just say that.

It's like Tomi went into some of my favourite books and took out my favourite parts a d somehow made them all connected in a story with tons of politics, magic, family drama, romance and realness. The last 50 pages destroyed my soul and I don't know how I am going to survive until book two comes out.

I know the finished copy is something like 140 pages shorter but it shouldn't be because this 600 page beast was perfect as is.

I may have peed myself a few times
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It only took me like 4 hours to read this book!

This book was so adorable! The team-ness and kids-seeing-monsters-ness and the Rangers and the family...was just so sweet! I'll definitely read the next one!

Oy vey. Talk about an unnecessary and boring romance...
I full on starting SKIPPING CHAPTERS in the last third of the book and was still following the plot! Not skimming pages...SKIPPING CHAPTERS!
