saramdeuri's Reviews (310)

uh oh !! i accidentally read this thinking it was another short story collection from the author, whose i've previously read... so safe to say i was a little confused reading it. but not too confused, actually! pretty simple plot, simple enough that i could grasp it 4 volumes in with no previous knowledge. i don't really think that's good actually...

not at all a fan of the teacher/student relationship that is being very heavily hinted at, and i really don't feel all that much romantic tension between any of the couples - actually, i don't think i felt much romance at all. but i did like most of the characters individually, as they were pretty decently fleshed out and seemed to have their own personalities past the yuri character archetypes they're fulfilling.

afraid to say mikanuji still suffers from same face syndrome though.......

ok PAUSE !!

renowned ultra micro local BL scholar saramdeuris giving anything less than 4 stars to an erha volume ?? it's possible. unfortunately. PAUSE AGAIN !!

HOW many plot twists ??? I don't think I can count them. this book should come packaged with one of those gimmick buttons you press and it makes the vine boom sound. please miss meatbun cut down on the plot twists. I have forgotten half of what happened in this book because of what happened in just the final ten chapters alone. please

I still have to give it a pretty high score though because !! miss meatbun knows how to write a good erotic scene, and how to keep that romantic tension high. and hey, at least three of those plot twists got me bad and were reasonable and well explained enough. the rest of them though? could've had a few chapters in between! goodness gracious. some of them I saw coming, some of them were too far off now I'm wondering if they were meant to be here at all.

still a certified mo ran lover though keep grappling with your uncontrollable lust and unexplored kinks king. ily

[grabbing you by the shoulders, fearful and full of dread] never kill yourself

I got through this quickly, but it was a tough one. moving and thoughtful. to me, there's something queer here - the attachment they have to each other. I wouldn't categorise it as gl though, I think it's just queer in a way.

the art was lovely too. I will warn, outside of spoilers, that there is graphic depiction of violence and self-harm, though, so do be careful!

possibly the most nuanced and well-explained discussion on BL and women in society I've ever seen in any piece of fiction

very introspective and philosophical, spends a lot more time on the internal lives of the characters and how their past affects them in their daily lives. a lot of political messaging, framed nicely within modern South Korean history. I adored the moments of tenderness between the lesbian couples featured here, laced with a little bit of dread for the future.

really adorable and an easy read, but I didn't find myself falling into the world or characters so much. I think it could have benefited from a bit more time world building. very much love the lesbianism of it all though!!

erm... well... tldr: everything clicked when I reached the authors note and they wrote that they based this off of heterosexual harem manga. it is basically just that.

I did find it amusing and entertaining at parts, but the overwhelming feeling was "what the fuck?" and not in the funny way. having read this I kind of understand what the yaoi ronso was all about. yeah, sometimes people really can get your identity wrong. but that's not what the author was going for, so I think you should take my opinions with a grain of salt.

thinking on it more, though, I think I would like to see a Yuri harem. this just isn't the way about it though. the appeal of Yuri lies in the fact that it's not just hetero or BL storylines just with two girls, it's got its own tropes and stories to tell. so yeah, this was pretty boring. but it WAS pretty though !! my personal pick is barista girl w the voice fetish, no surprises there. she wouldn't want me back until I showed her my ability to flawlessly recreate the stereotypical young anime girl voice though

정말 흥미로운 내용이 많았다! 많이 배웠고 더 배우고 싶어졌다. 특히 3장, 6장, 7장과 9장 좋았다.

I really want this to be translated - to translate it myself - to bring these voices to a world audience. kpop fans should absolutely embrace the queering of their favs. (maybe in a later volume of this there'll be a zb1 appearance....)

이번에는 토마스의 과거를 알게 되어서 좋지만 다시 현재로 왔을 때 좀 갑작스럽고 헷갈리게

암튼 재미있었음!
