I started this thinking it was a bit weird and boring, much like the main character and her jobs, buy it kept getting more and more fun to read. Really just so entertaining. It got me thinking a little about the state of the job market and burnout syndrome and such.
Just wasn't as compelling as annihilation. I couldn't get interested in the main character or the mystery as much as I could with the first in the series - maybe, for me, it all had to be kept a mystery to be compelling.

Frankly there's some good information in here, but nothing you can't get elsewhere. I found its a collection of unfinished thoughts, prompts for your own perusal. The actual information was good, except the 3 pages where the author attempts to convince you that the fur industry is ethical and environmentally friendly. Disgraceful.

So much better than I remember it being. A lot more intricate and detailed both plot wise and world building wise. So much fun to read! Paolini also does a great job of creating a world where any sexism/racism/etc doesn't feel forced just to convey a message, and where the answers to those aren't typical either (I mean this in a good way!) There's a real sense of weight in the actions characters take, and some very wise thoughts in here too.

An absolutely gorgeous and heartwarming graphic novel. I look forward to reading the rest in the series!

This gave me a lot to think about, but most of the topics I'm familiar with. I think it had a rather good representation on how children interactions with each other and with adults, and especially good writing on girls considering the author isn't and wasn't a girl.
