Really don't like the way this is written; too point-and-click, this happened, then this then this then this then this for me. 

I read about 40% of this and really wasn't into it, so decided not to finish it. The writing style and characterisation didn't work for me; I wanted to know more about the characters and understand them more. They felt rather abstract and removed, and for me this makes me lose interest in a book. 

I got 10% of the way through this, but decided this is just not the kind of story I am interested in reading. I wasn't super comfortable reading this from a white author, and would prefer to seek out an own-voices narration of this story.
