The letters were the best part of this book. 5 stars Did give The Hating Game vibes as the blurb promised. Unfortunately, the present day parts were not as good. 2.5/3 stars. The supporting characters felt flat, and the misunderstanding and fallout went on far too long. However, the letters were so great that I'll call it 4 stars.
This was such a funny book! I loved Coyne's snarky humor.
I didn't know much of anything about Betty Ford before I cracked this open, but now I'm a huge fan. What an impressive woman! This was very well written, and I strongly suggest it to everyone.
Great memoir. Such honesty. Such a needed glimpse at the hardship and struggle that Black and queer people face in early childhood and adulthood. I see why people who like to ban books would rush to ban this one, and I see why it should be placed into the hands of teenagers and young adults rather than be banned.
