I couldn't get into this one. It was too odd how isolated the main character is. I didn't feel like reading any more.
This book is written in reverse, which is supposed to create suspense and mystery, but it just ends up being an annoying mess. Jodi Picoult's Mad Honey also had a storyline partially told in reverse, and it was much better done. This had way too much alluding to lying characters and missing pieces, which doesn't make sense when the narrator knows a lot more than the reader. I found a summary of the plot online, and it wasn't shocking or a big enough twist to make me want to read more.
While I really liked parts of this book, I also really didn't like parts of it. I'm not a big gamer, but that didn't matter. The story is about friendship and how it evolves over time. Maybe I just didn't need such a long span of time covered in the book. Also, maybe I missed it, but I really would have preferred a content warning about the active shooter scene halfway through the book.
