Another review called this a slap in the face, and that's a pretty good description. Some of the stories are 5 stars and some are just ok. The best stories that really delivered are The Finkelstein 5, Zimmer Land, Friday Black, and Light Spitter. I also really enjoyed the stories set in retail, but the four I listed will stick with me.

I really liked Dark Places and Gone Girl, but this was just too creepy for me. Maybe I'm in the wrong mood, but I found myself wondering if I really wanted to keep reading. I read to be entertained, and this wasn't the kind of entertainment I wanted. Given the small window of reading time I have these days, I chose to stop reading and settled for a synopsis from my book club.

Never have I been so relieved that I was never prescribed opioids as a pain reliever than while I was reading this heartbreaking book. This book details how this horrible epidemic started and all the ways it continues to ruin lives while the government and health organizations are so slow to act in the best interest of the people struggling with addiction.
