emotional sad slow-paced

This is a quietly written (no big drawn out dramas) and beautiful story about family, loss, love, kindness and more.

I love when at the heart of a story it's about sisters. I have many of my own and we are close but different as night and day.

Sarah and Glennie are that way. They love each other but grow apart at some point and struggle to maintain a close relationship.

I cried when the sisters grandparents passed as each of my Grandpa's deaths are brought back to the surface of my mind and how much I miss them.

I love the family quilt that is passed down. I love that at one point, Sarah wants to write down family history in stories and her Grandma doesn't want to have her sister written in. I think it's very important for all family history, no matter how messy, to be passed down.
hopeful lighthearted fast-paced

This was a fun novella that takes us from the modern world with a girl with a disease that won't see her live past the age of 22 to another timeline of a Princess with the Sleeping Beauty curse.

I love the line "Only dying girls love Sleeping Beauty." as this has always been my favorite fairy tale (as far as Disney goes, as far as real Grimm tale-yikes!) It just made me laugh and ask. "what does this say about me?"

We get to see a few iterations of different tales of how Sleeping Beauty is told and it's very feminist in nature

This was a fun, dark fantasy. I really liked the setting and that our MC girls are basically fairy tale versions of our favorite Disney princesses. But at this school, girls are dying deaths linked to the real, tragic stories of the "fairy tales" that you would find from the Grimms.

The deaths were gruesome. It was a very dark book. But I loved all the girls in it. I loved seeing how they worked together to try and solve the mystery of these deaths.

The book is utterly enchanting in a dark, gloomy way!
mysterious medium-paced

This book with its short chapters, multiple POVs (where you are always aware of who is narrating at which time) and movie-like quality will sure please a lot of people.

Ashley gets the once in a lifetime opportunity to land a role when her dog snoopes around in casting director Louisa's yard. But the role is one she may not be actually prepared for!

There are 6 different POVs we get at different times. The more I dug into the background of them, the more that most of them turned me off in the way that I didn't actually feel that sorry for what they went through. There are lies to sift through, devious behavior to unravel and an ending (while partially on my part) that in part you see coming but part that might surprise you... This was a fabulous read that I highly enjoyed.
tense fast-paced

Why are all these characters so unlikeable and why can't I look away from their train wreck?!

This time we get to dig into Ivy's character more.
I can't believe she had even more skeletons in the closet than she did in book 1 but she sure did! She eventually gets into trouble from those skeletons and ends up right where her former lover Alisha is.

The one thing I didn't expect was a new someone and the cliffhanger we get... Can't wait for book 3.

This is a book that won't be for everyone with all the sex in it, the MC being a sex worker on a webcam.

Alisha didn't have a great life growing up and came into her career without preplanning it. She's a sex addict and when she finally finds a man she wants to be  monogamous with, it takes a lot of work between the two. But there are secrets they are both keeping from each other which results in the death of Dylan and Alisha awaiting trial.

The book goes really fast though with the subject matter and I read it in an afternoon.
mysterious fast-paced

I totally don't know what I expected from this book but what I got was totally different. I love the short chapters so it was a quick read and I love the setting of Greece! It just sounds so beautiful.

While reading this book, it made me feel that it's going one way and I felt that I'd be really upset if it was going that way but then it took a turn about 75% in, that I totally was not expecting. I'm not sure that I liked where it went but I am sure that I liked that it DIDN'T go where I thought it was going.

I really liked Maddie and wasn't expecting her to be more of a central figure than she was. I thought this would mostly be about the girl so the cover/blurb is a bit of a mislead I thought. So best to go in this book blind.
adventurous emotional medium-paced

I highly recommend this for historical fiction lovers. There's also mystery and spies, lush detail of Egypt, romance, fight to claim oil rights and more!

This book was such an adventure again for our MCs Noah and Ginger! It starts right into the action with Ginger needing to perform an amputation of a soldier's leg. There are other scenes that were a little hard to stomach so beware.

You never know who to trust in this story except for our MCs and I really was loving that. I felt like I was side by side with them throughout. The details are just amazing that they put you right there. I can't wait for the conclusion which is sure to be epic!

The thing I really liked about this book was the rich detail of a 1920s club.... Flappers, gangsters, shady underground during prohibition. It's so vivid that I felt I was there. There are also scary times with the KKK and mobsters.

I wanted more of the magic. It's more sprinkled throughout as the MC Luna/Rose is leaning that she can access more of the bruja part than she had at the end of her lips (the way she can charm people by touch was pretty cool). I did love how much she wanted to make her own way and not be limited to her public persona (having to hide her Spanish heritage as she passes for white).

It felt a bit too long for me and could have been paired down but it was good overall.

Wow this book was so good. Multi layered in racism, corruption (especially of a politician), deceit, lies and more! This is a complex story but with quick, short chapters... It flew by quickly and I loved every part of the mystery.

Two women, Dani and Vera, are at the center of the novel but there are some side characters that are really strong too.

Vera is trying to get the police to find out who murdered her son but it looks like she'll have to take the investigation into her own hands. Dani is a compulsive liar (so much that she doesn't even realize she's lying until the words are out of her mouth) but she agrees to help Vera. The way these two women were bonded was out of tragedy and circumstances being their control. I did like the growth that Dani underwent.
