I can't believe I let Ellie sit on my TBR so long! I cringed along with her as she goes back to her hometown (from her job as an LA show writer wanting to move up to co-EP) for a 10 year high school reunion. (Which I have never done and never will care to do).
It's made even more challenging by her friends Vic and Tina making up a list of things she needs to do while there and her boss grabs at this opportunity to dangle the position in front of her.
I liked watching her fumble and bumble around with her long standing crush Mark while he helped her fulfill the list. I liked how raw Mark was, it really made me want to be his friend too!

Amy and Lucas, what a pair! They made me laugh and swoon. I love how this goes from enemies to lovers to friendzone back to lovers (I mean fake dating always turns into that right?!)
The deliciousness of this amazing Italian Doctor Lucas 😘
I love that we get to see Lilly and Oliver as they plan their wedding. I enjoyed the funny things that happen when Amy gets drunk and has stuff embarrassing happen. I really liked that the misunderstanding of when Lucas went home and came back wasn't hidden for too long so that it wasn't over there heads for the whole story. This is what all people need to just do....communicate and make things right quickly... It's easy!
I love the spark between the two MCs. I still laugh at all that Lilly does. I REALLY liked Amy's work friend. The emails 😍 I love how he kept writing to her even though she didn't get them and him letting her read them to know his heart.

Elise- She's a cop who one day shoots a kid shooting up a shopping mall but he's the only casualty. The man she saves right before killing the gunman disappears from the mall. Weeks go by until she finds and follows him and he turns and attacks her. What made him do this?
I love this character Elise. She does really good work with cold cases. I was on the edge of my seat as she tried to uncover the mystery of this man. The lengths this man goes to to scare her is unreal and creepy.
Wendy Walker is always a great thriller writer and this book just blew me away. It's a bit shorter than other thrillers but it still packs a punch.

A great adventure awaits readers in this amazing Viking romance!
Silla, a woman running from assassins that means to drag her to a feared Queen sneaks into the wagon of a Viking group of warriors named the Bloodaxe Crew. She must lie about who she is to protect herself but even she will discover that she doesn't even know her real self!
As they journey along the treacherous Road of Bones, Silla will learn how to defend herself and draw close to this band of warriors, especially Jonas. Rey, the leader, does not tolerate dishonesty but doesn't push it where Silla is concerned.
I loved Silla. I thought she really did what she had to do to get where she needed to be. Though the tension is palpable between Jonas and her , I was secretly rooting for her and Rey!
I can't wait to continue this when the next book comes! There were many surprises at the end which made me so happy and giddy!
Great fantasy and such an immersive and richly told debut.

I like the concept of Greek god descendants having certain powers in the modern world but parts were confusing to me. There are supposed "3s" born in families but there was a group called the Nine they were from the same family?
I had high hopes when I found out that Io, an investigator that can see people's "threads", had a fated love and that she would get to work with him and they would fall in love in the meantime, but we never really got that. In the end, we don't even know if he stays alive 🤷♀️.
There are also some wraiths... People that have a severed thread (that usually means they die) but are still alive and out to punish people for their crimes. They could have been made to be more scary.
Overall, it was an ok story and I'm glad I read it but not sure if I'll read the next book (since this is titled #1)

Super cute brother's best friend story! I love that they both had feelings pretty much from the beginning and I'm glad we didn't wait until the 80% mark for them to give into it. A lot of laugh out loud moments, but some very tender heart. I like the thought of a series of stories for a newspaper of small town festivals.
I like how infectious Katie is! Such a fun and light person. Jacob is so sweet in the way he looks out for his dad as he stumbles medically. There was an air of mystery attached to what starts to happen at the festivals that make Katie and Jacob feel as if they are cursed.
I haven't read book 1 but will go back at some point to. I felt like I got enough important info to still very much enjoy this connected story but that stands well in its own.

I quite liked Rose. She is a flawed woman in a dead end job where she doesn't get the promotion she expected and she basically mothers her mother instead of the other way around. She is forced on a vacation and decides to run to the romatic city of Paris.
What she finds is not the city she expected. She even feels like she doesn't know herself and can't find herself here. She is guided to parts of Paris with a guy named Kid and somehow meets a childhood friend she hasn't seen in years. She goes through so much hardship in this unknown to her city, but a life she can see living sneaks up on her.
I also loved that there is an art theft that captivates the city when she's there and she'll get more than she bargained for!

This was an interesting book and I read through it really fast but I'm not sure how much I connected to anyone.
We know that there were a couple of deaths (Steven and Regina) in the beginning and we get to see POVs from several sources.. Bill, Karla, Jennica as well as police reports from interrogations of them all plus minor characters.
I think I felt bad for Bill. He's floundering but trying to do the best for his daughter after the death of his wife. He does make some honest but stupid mistakes.
I thought it was terrible of Steven to drag Jennica along like he did. I'm still not sure exactly if Regina , the supposed dead wife of Steven, was involved in her part of the end or not...
Overall it was a good drama but probably not one I'll think about often.
