adventurous fast-paced

Cate has flown from Oregon to England to attend University and it doesn't start out well or last long. She's attacked at night almost immediately and then is whisked away by the MMC, Daniel and Lucas. They basically tell her she's from an alternative universe, she's a Princess, and she needs to come back to their world because she's the "key" to a prophecy.

I liked that this fantasy world was easy to understand so it made for a fast read but I hope that book 2 really starts to dig into it and all the magic it possesses. It could become a lot more exciting.

This is YA romantasy so the romance isn't deep and though love triangle isn't a favorite of mine, it worked here and didn't make me turn on which side I wanted to pick for our FMC. Two guys, one a Prince and one a soldier, from neighboring kingdoms.

I really hope Cate can tune into her powers and become a Princess to reckon with. I hope that the words of Daniel from that letter near the end ARE the truth.
informative relaxing slow-paced

Hannah and Martin meet at a cheesemonger in England where she is a location scout for a movie production company and he's, well he's a modern day Marquess.

I liked learning about the behind the scenes of finding a place to be able to shoot a movie. I liked that Martin seemed so down to earth despite his status. I got mad when Hannah is shown disrespect from her company. I really liked Martin's friends and thought it funny that Hannah would question every female he knew as if they might be his lover.

Ok, let me first of all say, I adore Blue Lenox/Izzy and I want her to be my best friend, k?!

Blue is the head of a burlesque group, Velveteen Crush. She bought a very run down theater because she wanted a safe LGBTQ+ space for performers. I really loved that they were a no-audition place and took everyone in that wanted to be a part.

Lillian is a Black ballet dancer that has fought so hard for her place in her company but it's at the risk of failure. As the lead, she feels obligated to keep them afloat.

Both go onto a reality show competition to win money for their own purposes but there is a slight problem - they had a one night stand and thought they would never see one another again.

I love the body positivity and the inclusivity in this book. The leads are passionate about their lives and each other. This was an amazing book by a real life couple. Beautiful

This was my first foray into Chelsea's world and I just want MORE MORE MORE!

This book was fire. So much spice but such tenderness too. I like that the MCs were both doctors. I liked that Aiden showed Maggie that she had so much worth and that her ex never showed up for her.

What a feel good story (there are parts that are sad too though).

I liked the gumption of these employees and for taking a stand to try and keep a beloved bookstore from closing due to the health problems of the owner. I can't believe that they were able to lockdown in the store for a month!

Jo (the MC) is so passionate and you can really see her love for the bookstore and the owner, Mr. Bruebaker. I love how she takes charge, how she feels she's doing right and how she faces things when they get bad.

This was just a special book and I'm so glad I got to read it.

lighthearted slow-paced

I did enjoy that the town where the characters live is an "open secret" of magic. There are witches, vampires, gnomes, merpeople and more.

Lucy and Alex are the MCs. They never really dated in high school but were friends... Until he stayed away for 11 years. But he's back and his family kind of forces him to stay by buying him a house.

Lucy and her sisters and one cousin use a wish spell because Lucy feels like she had the same life to show her classmates at reunions and wants to be seen as different. One thing I did like is that a wish doesn't just automatically come true.... They had to work towards it.

I wished for more from the romance and the magic but they were very small background players 😐

Wow, this book left me stunned at the resilience of the FMC Nicole getting her life back after an assault... From a stranger or someone she knew (it is revealed at the end and though I knew who it was most of the time..I was still quickly turning pages).

I liked that she helped her sister in her own journey to find herself from an overbearing and pushy future mother in law. I liked that Nicole got to take control back by taking a self defense class. I really did like to see the sisters get close again.
challenging mysterious medium-paced

Chelsey is a detective whose sister disappeared 20 years ago and who dedicates her work to finding the missing.

Ellie Black disappeared two years ago but is found alive by hikers- she's been set free. But she has disassociated and won't talk about her missing years.

It's a shock that she is found alive but it's worrying that she won't talk. I really liked the vibes I got from the detective. I like that we get to see the past and discover why Ellie has changed. I think Ellie is pretty brave in the way she is able to go back to her captor's area.

While the ending was a little unbelievable in a certain aspect, it also made sense to me. I can't give anything away.... You'll just have to read and decide about the ending for yourself.

I like that this was a big brother's best friend romance and that the big brother actually PUSHED these two together instead of decreeing that they could NEVER date or there would be problems between the "bros".

Evie is quick witted with an insane comeback to anything that Fraser says. I wish she had just realized sooner that she would have been better off with a job that wasn't reporting. Don't get me wrong...I liked that she did positive stories because who wants only terrible news, but sure would have been awesome as a hockey coach.. Especially with all the notes after games she gave Fraser.

Fraser is so sweet. He's a good brother and uncle. He's a good hockey player/teammate. I love that he brings her flowers and that he was always insanely in love with Evie (starting in high school)

I REALLY liked the best friends group of Evie's. I love their chats and text groups. I'm glad more will be coming for them in upcoming books.

Wow, I don't read a lot of family sagas but when I do...I am in awe of how real, raw, and honest they are. The characters are so vivid in their descriptions and feelings. The emotions tug at your heart strings.

Ella is a sweet innocent girl who falls in love at a young age and goes to prison (you find in the story why). She was dealt a bad hand (right before prison) when things came to light. I was so mad at the cop's tactics towards her.

Helen, her mother, tries her best to give her a life possible after prison. But Ella knows she needs to try to make it on her own. She makes mistakes but she also makes choices that endear her to you even if gone about the wrong way.

I was happy with the way it ended. Certain things could have gone other ways but I'm glad the author chose to end it the way she did.
