Henri, as he lies in a coma, dreams of his past life as a child and what his life could have been if he had made different choices. His son Sam, smart boy who sees and senses things in color, never having met his father..... Who still comes to his bedside every day. Eddie, who loved Henri once, stays by his side and also dreams of what her life could have been if she stayed with him. Madelyn, a coma patient who Sam finds and starts to care for and look out for her.
Very intricate characters who I fell in love with. Beautiful writing!

This book with it's many twists and turns is really good and creepy. The ending really shocked me! Very chilling. Highly recommend. I am definitely an Alice Feeney fan!

*Trigger warning for child abuse and neglect.*

This story was beautiful and heartbreaking.
Beck, a pianist, has it hard. His mother lost her ability to play piano and really wants Beck to become better and farther beyond where she was able to make it to.... At a very hefty price for Beck. My heart broke with each hit and unkind word. My heart broke when Joey, Beck's little sister, is neglected and hurt.
It's very hard to read certain scenes but C.G.'s writing makes the story flow really well. I finished the book in the span of two days.

2 1/2

I don't understand why Effie and Henry ever got married. They grew up together but they didn't really know each other.
Debauchery on their honeymoon, I almost couldn't get through the orgy scene (I'm not a prude but.... Seriously, on your honeymoon- orgy)
Clara was so carefree and didn't seem to care about anyone really but herself. Max was just a weird guy that was kind of sleazy. Alma was weird too. Maybe Henry should have left Effie and they shouldn't have stuck together because they just weren't faithful to each other at all through their whole marriage.

I kind of hate to admit this, but I'm finally in the Warner corner! The things that guy had been put through from his father are so horrible!
This new book gives us a lot more insight into Juliette's past life. It's craziness!

I enjoyed most of the characters (had a hard time liking Andrew) and this story was interesting enough to keep me reading.
A story of 4 college friends, grown up with kids of their own, trying to navigate their own lives while the lives of their kids (a bit and a girl) grows closer.

WOW! This was a crazy ride of a book! I picked up and finish this in a few hours. Sadie gets pulled into Ann's web-which is so deeply tangled. The things they both do and are capable of are terrifying!
Definitely need to read more of Britney's work!

It was so interesting to read this story. I never had heard of the "blue" people. My husband spent some time on Kentucky and he heard about them.
I loved Cussy. She had a great spirit even when people looked down on her because of her condition.
I really liked the Pack Horse program. It was a great idea to get books out to people that would otherwise not be able to read books. I really didn't seem to like much of the patrons Cussy had until they started coming around and really looking out for Cussy .
I also had to research the courting candle. Something else I had never heard of and I thought that was an interesting way to get one of your children married.
I felt so bad for Cussy and Jackson at the end but I love that they found a way to get around what happened.

I feel the same way as most people..... What did I just read?!
It's so good. Dark, twisty, and messes with your mind. I still don't know what I believe!
