I probably would listen to him read a phone book, so the audiobook was enjoyable.

Some of his stories were crazy bonkers (wrestling in Africa, etc)… it is amazing he still is l i v i n…

More family drama than romance but an enjoyable audiobook listen

A few things - I still cling to my phone number with an area code that probably only means something to me (and other 773ers from the late 90s)

I did not know (or remember) some of the things… like the fact that the US interfered in the Russian election to re-elect Yeltsin (yikes)

I might have known (and now remember) that Pauly Shore starred in 5 mainstream movies or that doxing is not a thing in a world with information and phone books…

“There is no evidence that people of the 90s wanted clear versions of beverages that were readily available in non-clear form” made me laugh out loud

This book wasn’t exactly what I was expecting - but it was very good and hit close to home for me too… what makes me up?!

I haven’t seen Sherlock, but I guess I should :)

I am starting a new role - and this gave me some good points to consider as I learn the new role… I think if I reread it again in 90 days I might pick up different points

I 100% agree that a lot of the value/peace/enjoyment I think I find from crafting is that it gives my brain and hands something to do. I often kiddingly (or not kiddingly perhaps) explain I have stress knitted thru the pandemic

I didn’t find these character “lovable” and not particularly witty - but maybe I missed humor since I don’t know much about beer? The audiobook sounded very Minnesotan.

I understand why this book was always checked out when I was looking for it.

When I was about 3/4s of the way thru I was thinking “hmmm this seems like a different kind of romance book” - they both seemed happy and not misunderstanding each other - it seemed unique (and kind of enjoyable to just read about people so happy they found each other). Then the final twist (so back to rom com formula) :)… still a nice story and one I stayed up until 1 in the morning to finish.

Six word summary: emigrant life crazy hard and scary

I read this in fits and starts which probably was not the best way to read it. It is kind of an essay format - but reading it as splintered as I did I think I lost some of the overall narrative
