Sometimes I would also like to go on strike
I listened to the audio book version of this and all the different actors really made it come alive for me. It was really an enjoyable book and should not have taken me so long to finish. I thought it was well done and I liked the structure and the way the characters had a chance to tell their own stories - even as supporting stories
Love me some Sedaris, but this was not my favorite by him
My 9 year old son and I read this together (an advanced reader copy we borrowed from our local independent bookstore)... we loved it!
We did not catch all the musical theater references most likely, but it has encouraged us to listen to some different musicals and he is now a huge Hamilton fan! I liked the diversity of the characters in the book - I thought it felt natural and not forced. I also thought the frenemy to friend relationship was nicely thought out.
We would highly recommend!

A good book about friendship - even some coming from unexpected places. There were some pretty funny parts, but I am glad I don’t live in Nowhere - “the least livable town in the United States”
I found the first few chapters of this book a “throat-punch of sadness”... because it is so well written. I read this out loud with my almost 10 year old, and we agreed that alternating the Brian and Ezra voices was really nice, and we made sure to end each evening of reading on an Ezra chapter for the first few day :)
This book was a great conversation starter for us to discuss how friendships sometimes change, what anxiety feels like, how helping others sometimes helps the helpers too, how to be a good friend...
I loved the characters and was so happy both Ezra and Brian found their people. I highly recommend this book.

This was heavier than I was expecting (maybe I should have read the reviews) but kudos to Tiffany Haddish for the honesty and the bravery to share her real (and often heartbreakingly sad) experiences
