This was a quick read. This is a dark story in general and that’s not a problem. I understood that walking into this book.
*** spoilers ***
I felt this was multiple stories in one book. The beginning starts off with a nurse working at a prison and her abusive husband is the Warden of the prison. Meeting an inmate that shows interest and concern for her gives a new hope. I felt the author developed this portion of the story well. We get to see Tessa’s life and the way she thinks. Which are both bleak. After she and Garcin escape prison and she her life with her husband… the story took a weird turn.
Both are on the run separately… ok cool, it’s a different take. She’s then caught by “the bad people” who are trying to get to Garcin through her. Beaten and nearly death, Garcin saves the day in a suit.
We switch gears to now being in this man’s house and he’s super rich and a mercenary and wants to hold her captive. To then switch gears and let her be with him to murder the men that tried to murder them.
It’s felt under developed and we’re supposed to believe that this woman overcomes: sexual abuse, physical abuse, several deaths, a miscarriage, an abduction and a hero who saves her in a matter of 3-4 months and now she’s strong and in love. It would have been better to spend more time on this plot and potentially have a sequel. This was just all over the place.

Thank you to RBmedia and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to The Creepy School Bus.
Wow! What a ride this was! The full cast and sound effects really bring you into the story. I felt I was sitting and standing next to these characters as the story unfolded.
Each narrator did a great job with emotions and speaking out the characters thoughts.
The sound effects definitely adding to the experience. Overall I highly recommend checking this book out!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to A Killing Cold by Kate Alice Marshall.
Theodora (Theo) is joining her fiancé for a visit with his family at a winter retreat. Between their suspicions of her and the web of family secrets, Theo is caught in the middle.
I enjoyed the twists and turns. The unraveling of one lie that’s attached to another. It’s a very intricate web. Sticky, messy and you can’t get away from it. I felt the author did a great job of balancing information, emotions and build up of suspense and mystery.
The narrator keeps you emotionally and mentally engaged throughout this whole story. She did a great job!
I feel there should be trigger warnings regarding certain circumstances. Above all, I highly recommend for a mystery/ thriller.

Kimberly Lemming has such a great sense of humor. I’ve enjoyed her books in the past and was eager to read her new one. The title alone cracks me up!
Dorothy is in the midst of her chosen career and on her way to a PhD. Out of no where, Dory is attacked by a lion. Thankfully she’s alive and quickly realizes she’s been abducted by aliens.
This was corky and silly. A ton of information for you to wrap your head around. I feel there were alot of fun ideas involved but the execution was off. It’s a bit chaotic and very fast paced.
I suggest not taking this story seriously at all.

Before JFK became the 35th president, there was an assassination attempt.
This was a snapshot of back in time. Between the words written and the narrator, I could see different events play out. I felt as if I was there, in real time walking through the different situations. I understand more of Jackie and the stress she was under at that time.
The narrator gave us a good balance of interest and factual tone. He was not boring but intriguing.
I highly recommend reading or listening to the audiobook.
