funny lighthearted mysterious slow-paced

Idk i definitely really prefer her horror stories in Cursed Bunny, these were more classic sci-fi and they just didn't hit me the same. Cursed Bunny altered my brain. The story abt the elevator tho 😭
dark medium-paced

so awesome and sick . grotesque!!
funny lighthearted mysterious fast-paced

so beautiful and strange, like a combination of Perfect Blue and Paradise Rot. Delicious prose on parasocial relationships and fanatic stans! The ending was so horrible.
slow-paced

idk this was pretty boring. Not super fun to read about a pedophile woman just like being annoying and stupid for this long. I absolutely loved 'The Girls' so I'm disappointed but w/e.

Late review— i loved this book it was really disgusting and sad and the way eileen was written was unfortunately really relatable (not all of her!!!) but Otessa Moshfegh always seems to be able to say what other authors are too ashamed to. Really incredible read. Short but will stick to you like a bug.

definitely one of the best anthologies I've read so far, each story was so well written and so many of my favorite authors had stories in here which was awesome. There was also a fuckton of queer authors featured in this anthology which is always lit. So many of the stories were really really scary! My favorites were

Reckless Eyeballing - NK Jemison
Invasion of the Baby Snatchers - Lesley Nneka Arimah
Aesthete - Justin C Key
Flicker - LD Lewis
Grief of the Dead - Rion Amilcor Scott (insane)
A Bird Sings by the Etching Tree - Nicole D Sconiers (reminded me of the movie The Dark)
Your Happy Place - Terence Taylor (THE LAMP IS WRONG)
Origin Story - Tochi Onyebuchi (writing on this one was insane, reminded me kind of No One Dies Yet)

I loved this it was very sick
Classic feral feminism book with very cool magical realism undertones. I loved how it was also really about art and performance in addition to motherhood. Very Organ Meats vibes and also really reminded me of A24's BEEF actually?  The plot is kind of similar just without Danny.
1 star off because I felt like it was missing a little something but i can't put my finger on exactly what.  I really liked
that we don't really know how much of it was "real" but i kinda wish it went more in depth into her 'transformation'? idk.

Wish the manga was a little different but I’m excited for the later volumes where things in the anime got more crazy
