"Mean Girls" meets "Gone Girl" in this mystery thriller by the author of the brilliant, "Behind Her Eyes". When Tasha drowns in an icy river and is legally dead for 13 minutes, it's presumed to be a tragic accident. The pieces don't quite line up, however, so with the help of her childhood friend, Becca, Tasha works to solve the mystery of how she ended up in the water. High School drama is pushed to the max and the stakes are high in this electric young adult novel where bullying can be deadly, and you never truly know who your real friends are.

This book is sad, but it's not JUST sad.

It's about a boy who accidentally shot and killed his baby sister when he was four.

But it's also about pizza.

And YouTube.

And friendship.

And yes, it's sad.

But it's also sweet.

And funny.

And beautiful in it's sadness and sweetness.

This book spent too much time beating the reader over their head with “GAY PEOPLE EXIST” and not enough time on the, y’know, apocalypse or any semblance of plot.
