The whole time I read this, I was reminded of the tones of books like The Dresden Files and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Really fun, very crude, totally crazy. I loved it.
Bibliophiles with young children! This book must be added to your library. Not only is it a book about how important and magical stories and books are for the world and our imaginations, but the illustrations are made up of excerpts from books! The excerpts (paragraphs from books like Gulliver's Travels and The Jungle Book and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) are shaped around the page to become waves, buildings, even a monster! This book is great.
I love the imagery in this book. Light and dark. Raw power. Confidence and love and mercy being key to harnessing inner strength. Looking forward to the next one.
This book is heart-achingly sweet from the very first page.
As Vivi lies dying in a hospital bed after being hit by a bus, her childhood sweetheart, Noah, (taken from her too soon) plays spiritual tour guide as he leads her on a tour of Heaven to draw inspiration for her own slice of the afterlife. Vivienne relives important moments from her life as she traverses the Heavens of people she knew, either intimately or in passing, with Noah, who just might be her soulmate.
Filled with beautiful descriptions and bittersweet memories, "The Extraordinary Journey of Vivienne Marshall" is just that: extraordinary. Throughout this extraordinary journey we, the reader, experience life, death, grief, sorrow, joy, and love and love and love.
This novel is sweet and uplifting and will make your heart grow with too much love. Keep some tissues nearby when you read this one.

After reading this, I suspect whenever I come upon a well, I will check to see if anyone is in the bottom.
Solid sequel. I like Nikki Kill. I like her synesthesia. I like that she solves mysteries but she's also kind of an asshole. It's fun.
