Aw man, what a cliffhanger! I feel like this ended in the middle, but I know that’s the point. Still, I have so many questions and I feel like nothing actually happened. It was sort of a heist, but nothing is stolen as far as we can tell, there are a ton of unanswered questions, and a lot of unresolved sexual tension. I need the next one!

A very sweet YA novel about death and life and love and loss.

Spooky short stories all taking place in the cold of winter. Gorgeous.
I’ve been meaning to read this for so long, I’m so glad I finally did. A lowly novel told as a letter from a son to his mother, remembering his life as a young boy, coming out, falling in love, experiencing loss and abuse and trauma. It’s gorgeous.

THE STARLESS SEA is another exceptional novel from Erin Morgenstern, the author of THE NIGHT CIRCUS.
THE STARLESS SEA is a love story to stories, to storytellers and to lovers of stories. It is fairy tale, myth, mystery, adventure, romance, and so much more. It has depth, it has sweetness, it has sorrows, it has fate, it has heartbreak, it has love, it bends time and space, and most of all, it has stories, which are just stories until they are more.
Erin Morgenstern chooses every word with such care and precision, every sentence in this book could be read aloud to gasps of appreciation. Creativity, magic, and love flow through these pages like light through a window, settling delicately on each word, imbuing this story with a warmth and familiarity more commonly reserved for old friends.
The diversity in THE STARLESS SEA spans across multiple categories of humanity, bringing a refreshing amount of reality into this rich fantastical narrative.
Her alternating chapters weave myths and fairytales throughout the main narrative and bring an added layer of mysticism and mystery to the whole.
As a fan of fantasy, of love, of stories, and of Erin Morgenstern, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Gorgeous collection of short stories examining bodies and sexuality and femininity and masculinity and the patriarchy all wrapped up in the feverish weirdness that makes each story unsettling and dark. Loved it.

A beautiful, chilly short story to read on a snowy day. Reads like a good myth or legend, a story that should be read aloud by a fire.

Pasha Malla is EVERYTHING. I love him, I loved Kill the Mall, and I was so delighted to be reunited with the narrator and K. Sohail, this time on an island at a couples retreat with a robot (regards, Jerome) and a bunch of folks who might be a cult. It’s GREAT.
lighthearted
A medium has to convince a goat farmer that his farm is ACTUALLY haunted. They fall in love or whatever.
