Heartbreaking, breathtaking

This poem and story is inspired by true tragedy and it reads true to the earnest hope and mounting terror that all parents must feel during the treacherous sea voyage of refugee asylum seekers. I wish that the perspective taking done here was taught in schools and in the workplace.

Some genuine laugh out loud moments and some problematic phrasing throughout. I love Sam Bee. There are, however, some fatphobic and homophobic language and slurs that I wasn’t expected that bring down the experience a bit.

Unapologetically honest. Some really insightful stories into who Tiffany is and why. I think that I would have preferred to read this one than listen to it. Some voice impressions of people she wrote about were hard to listen to.

Honestly some of the most poetic writing I’ve ever experienced in a memoir. I recommend the audiobook version, read to you by Patti. This is the most special love letter that I’ve ever heard. I will absolutely revisit.
