a book being based around travel between parallel universes and still being steeped in christo-american centrism is criminal i literally can’t keep doing this

I need to stop picking up books just for readathons 💀 I will give this the read it deserves later. 

literally hate this trend of YA fantasy novels where the premise is essentially “girls are oppressed and forced to become wives or die but romance can save the day” and this cemented it. teens deserve better books. 

This felt like it talked down to its audience in a way I know I would have hated if I was 9-12 when I read it. It’s a shame, the concept was cool. 

This book was beautifully written but ultimately I felt no compulsion to keep going. Despite being over a quarter of the way in I felt very little happened and did not feel the need to find out. 

Not in a contemporary mood at the moment and there’s little point trying to force myself through this when I could enjoy it later

I’m going to revisit this when i’m more in the mood for slow burn. 

Going to have to restart this one because flu brain cannot recall a thing.
