I think the only reason I followed through with finishing this one was because it was like watching a train wreck.

There was so much build up here and then not a lot going on for the actual clean up in the end.

We really read so much to give us all these clues that Evan had some mental health issues that our girl just completely ignored for years (like sorry, how does someone saying “the voices are too loud” not set off any alarm bells???), then when it gets to the end we don’t even see him reconcile with his daughter who was crushed when she found out about his break? WHAT?! That was legit all I cared about in the end; him making it up to Lyric. But we literally don’t see it at all. What a wasted opportunity for some good angst.

Overall, would not recommend. Gave it 1.75 stars because the last 15% was alright, but damn the rest of this book was a slog of ignored red flags. When you give me an angsty book, I should be crying all over the place, but the only time I cried was
during the loss of the dog.
🤷🏼‍♀️ The rest of the time I was just screaming “GIRL, NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
