A decent fantasy book that has one of the most powerful opening scenes I have ever read. An interesting worldbuilding, a magic system based on programing (nice!), and a diverse cast of characters. Sciona must be the most infuriating female character I have ever read whom I at the same time enjoyed watching. She is a feminist. She is racist as fuck. She is a product of her culture. She crosses societal boundaries. She is intelligent. She is as dense as a bag of bricks when it comes to things outside magic. She is passionate about her craft. She is extremely annoying, but it makes sense for her character to be this way. I wanted to tear all my hair out watching her interact with Thomil. She was the perfect vessel for the story. I wished there were more books with female characters like her.

I have one criticism though. A big one. I really don't like it when autors insult my intelligence as a reader and feel the need to (over)explain themes explored in their books. It almost felt as if I were reading a YA book (let's face it, even Hunger Games might have been more subtle than this). Let me pick up the clues. Let me come to conclusions myself. Let me think! You don't have to spell out everything, we get it.

The best one in the series. Now I need to own it in paper as well.
