This manhua gripped me right from the start. I'm aware that it's adapted from a novel but this was my first introduction to the story and I was instantly intrigued by the characters, plot and worldbuilding - and honestly didn't want to put the book down. If I'd had volume two available I would have continued straight on reading it (and as it is, I'm considering watching one of the TV adaptations to avoid having to wait to continue the story).
The art style really appeals to me, and visually I think it's probably among the nicest comics I own.
I loved this and highly recommend it.

I would have been really disappointed if I hadn't loved this book. I've been bingeing Chinese TV dramas for months now and this is one of very few books I've found in the xianxia fantasy genre which I can actually read (most sadly don't appear to have been translated into English). In addition I have the stunningly beautiful Fairyloot edition of the book, and would have hated to need to give it up if I didn't like the book.
Fortunately, I very much enjoyed it. It did take a while to really grip me - while the plot and characters were decent from the beginning, something indefinable was failing to fully hook me until approximately a third of the way in, when events took a turn and suddenly I was all in. From then on, I didn't want to put the book down.
I already own the Celestial Kingdom duology by the same author, so I may well decide to pick those up within the next couple of weeks.

This volume was reasonably enjoyable but not memorable
I went into this expecting a fun, possibly slightly silly Isekai romance story, and to some extent that is what I got. I also correctly expected it to be explicit (the shrink wrap is always a giveaway). I rather liked the female main character.
Unfortunately I struggled not to dislike the male lead. The consent issues were stronger than I can ignore - the sex itself is consensual, but certain other things which follow are not. He was particularly questionable within the first half of the book, and while later chapters from his perspective made him somewhat more likeable, it felt like too little too late.
In all honesty I didn't dislike the book, but considering the high cost of manga, I'm not sure this is a series worth my continuing.

This was a fun, cosy read with a likeable main character and I had a great time with it.
I would recommend this mainly to those who have experience reading both manhwa/manga and webcomics, specifically Isekai and transmigration stories. It's a very meta story which deliberately uses and references popular tropes in a fun way.
I would definitely like to get my hands on volume two sooner rather than later.
