This book is so weirdly creepy, but so endearing. I love how T Kingfisher makes you root for the misfits. She’s made me fall in love with the Horror genre and all it’s twistiness but not at all scary. 

The story was a little disjointed, but overall a fun read. I’ve not read any other middle grade by T Kingfisher, but I expected more creepiness based on the adult fiction I’ve read of hers. 

Creepy and atmospheric. The house is a character itself. I loved this story. 

This book is my second by Lisa See. The research that went into this novel is fantastic. She writes women in history with brilliance. The story is sometimes difficult to read because of how women are viewed in historical china and the barbaric treatment of them. Amazing storytelling.
