I loved every minute of this book. I was sad I had read the synopsis of it before reading the book, so I won’t put too much here. But I loved the triumph of a woman’s spirit so prevalent in the themes of this story.

Lots more battles than Legendborn and I appreciate that the romance doesn’t carry the story. At the same time, I found this sequel to be disappointing. Just not as much development and the storylines were predictable.

Neil Gaimen meets Stephen King. This book was weird and violent. The characters were all awful, because their “father” made them that way. Lots of terrible things happen over and over, but somehow it became a redemption story. Worth reading, but not for the faint of heart.

This book moved too slow for me. I probably would have DNF’d it had it not been in audio. But I actually got more interested the further I got into it. The characters were not very likable, but the bond of the sisters and their hatred for the patriarchy and the misogyny of the community was so intriguing. Worth the read.

An interesting look into the future with challenging topics such as AI and climate change and how we react to new technology and differences of opinion towards it all.

I never would have expected to be so moved by the feelings of a robot doll, but her sense of purpose was so compelling. The ideas put forth in this book are a little bit unnerving. But so sweet and powerful at the same time.

This book is impossible not to read in Leslie Jordan’s voice. He reflects over his life with such candor and love. Even the hard parts he doesn’t seem to regret. I hope someday to look back on my own life with his same fondness.

So hard to read about the atrocities committed against poor, black women, but so important. This book was written so well, and gives such a fantastic insight. I struggled with the narration flipping from past to present, even though that doesn’t typically bother me. The present day storyline didn’t really add anything to the story. If not for that I would’ve given 5 full stars.
