I bought this because of the cover, and the summary did interest me and but I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. But twenty gods, I'm in love with it. Books I read usually follow witches, not witch-doctors and boy, was that refreshing. Rena Barron has created a stunning complex world, with a captivating mythology and magic system that just leaped of the pages and dragged me into the book. The characters felt so real, like I could reach out and touch them and I did not see the twists and turns in this epic saga coming. Fast paced, but that didn't deter from this high risk winner takes it all tale. Honestly, five stars aren't enough and I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel. If your a fan of fantasy, or magic, epic stories or just looking for something fresh and different, this is the book for you.
Absolutly phenominal. Shadowhunters has, and always will be my favourite series. It's my safe space and helped me get through an incredible dark chapter in my life. It is a joy to follow will and tessas children and friends as they adventure through London. No one weaves a story full of magic, love and heartbreak like Cassie. 5 stars is not enough.

This was a reread for me before I continued on with the rest of the series. This is so pure and wholesome. It's so relatable and I wish it existed when I was in grammar school. Nick and Charlie are everything. Do the thing, and read it if you haven't already.
