Brilliant

I am so glad I happened across this series. The first book caught my eye in asda one day but I have only recently got round to reading book 2. (Book 3 is waiting on the wings.
This is series is a interesting refreshing outlook on witches and witchcraft, full of amazing characters and twists that make it impossible to put down! If your into to witches and magic and looking for something new, this is the series for you!

A must have story for any fan

Well what's not to love when it comes to the Mikaelsons. Another fantastic story to fill in the gaps original vampires long history. I admit the writing could be a bit better but that might just be a few mistakes as I have the kindle version. There aren't many faults to this book except that. I enjoyed it and will be moving on to book 3 shortly, and I want more. I'm excited to see what happens next and it is interesting to see how the three factions struggle and fight for power in the early days of new orleans. 12/10. Oh I was a bit thrown in the fact that Klaus mentions "their two dead and mortal brothers," one of them being henrik , and we all know the other Dublin is actually a sister, Freya, which confused me but I understand that this book was written before freya and dahlia were introduced in the series so it's a forgivable oversight. I just felt I had to point that out along with my explanation so people don't get too butt hurt over it. , because Julie Plec is a genius as any fan knows. But still a fantastic story.

Another thrilling story from Stevens past

I enjoyed this although there was a few differences from the tv show, like how Stefan and Lexi met, but I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Stefan and Damon after they turned. Can't wait to read book 3. I always

Loved it - but where is Klaus.

Another exciting installment. This is one of my favorite in the series especially since it was set in an area I am familiar with, London. I love when I read novels and the author sometimes imagined their immortal characters in the city at the time of the ripper (like Cassandra clares Mortal instruments series) so it was amazing to see Stefan and Damon in this environment. I loved the characters and especially love L.J's take on the Originals. Especially Samuel ( as I think he is actually Klaus's brother as he reminds me A lot of Elijah, but more bloodthirsty) the story flowed easily as most of L.j Smith's novels. Although I do kind of wish Stefan would stop dreaming about Katherine. Get over it.
