this is the most stunning prose i have ever read, and i have read a whole lot. i’m lost for words. this was truly exquisite.

the second-person narrative worked so well, i can’t believe this book is a debut. so so so beautifully crafted. i study english at university, and books like this remind me why. gorgeous.

so atmospheric, so melancholy. perfect, honestly.

required reading! i recommend this to anyone.

i don’t always like writing reviews for memoirs as they’re so personal and i often feel they’re written as a way of catharsis for the author, but i couldn’t help myself for this one. this book is so beautiful, and it made my cry several times. zauner has such a talent for writing and portrays her loved ones in all their vibrancy. she makes it easy to believe you’ve stepped into her world. so glad i picked this up.
