I think I would have liked this more if it were the only Katrina story I'd ever read. It covered some ground that was old to me. But still, well-done oral histories.

I am not really sure who the intended audience of this book is. I really loved it, but it seems to expect a lot of knowledge of the opium trade and British colonial politics. I suppose perhaps it is intended for British children.

Anyway, great characters & very intriguing mystery. But just... kind of weird.

This book was cool!!

Hmm. I really liked Bartimaeus as a character--very droll and funny. I think Jonathan Stroud could have used an editor to chop off about 100 pages of description. This is a sort of standalone prequel to the Bartimaeus trilogy, which I have not read. I read this for class and some of my peers said the original trilogy was much better than this one.

UHH I know this is a classic or whatever but I thought it was kind of boring. And I didn't really like Ged/Sparrowhawk. Hmm.

WHY IS THIS SO GOOD?? WHY DID IT MAKE ME CRY IN PUBLIC? AHHHH

Cute!! I don't care for Superman generally but I liked this. Also, the art was real pretty.

I wanted to like this? And I did--but something about the voice seemed inauthentic & it kept pulling me out of the narrative. Still, I suppose, hooray for cross-dressing pirate ladies.

UHH SO the last 5 or so chapters of this were really hard to read because I was full-on sobbing. GUHHHH
