fuck!!! why is Scott Westerfeld so good!!!! I didn't love [b:Impostors|37825397|Impostors (Impostors, #1)|Scott Westerfeld|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1537581177l/37825397._SX50_.jpg|59503640] but this one builds up the world and its technologies in such a SMART way, I'm obsessed. I also sort of thought the switched-twin dynamic would get old but honestly????? It kept working??? What the fuck????

Also the REVEAL at the end aaaaaaaa

Spoiler
This isn't even the big reveal but the thing about the Pax feels being emojis killed meeeee :')

But while I'm under spoiler text omg on one hand burying your gays isn't ideal but on the other hand I'm so ready for GAY REVENGE

(LOL I just went back and re-read my review of Impostors where I said, "I suppose this is a new series starter but I found myself wishing for a little bit more of world-building? Like Extras, this seems to be very much about privacy and how having or not having it impacts a society. But hopefully future books will dig into that more." MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.)

sometimes it's nice to feel pandered to.

I re-read this in anticipation of Wayward Son and honestly stand by my original review.

I liked this a lot (and devoured it all in 24 hours). I wish...for more of it? I loved the idea of American magic and the continued exploration of this excellent magic system, and I appreciated the emotional fallout of all the events of Carry On, but...well, yeah, want more of it.
SpoilerAnd definitely seemed to be setting up a 3rd book so perhaps my wish will be fulfilled!
And I mean not only in terms of wanting a sequel (though of course, I do), but just...more. but I suppose that's a good problem to have.

This is a great middle grade graphic novel for all your Raina-loving readers! I really enjoyed the prologue that kind of calls out other books where kids are actively bullied for having a disability etc until everyone Learns An Important Lesson and is like, but ACTUALLY it's more like...well, being invisible. it's funny and relatable and encouraging without being cloying.

I LOVED this, this is so extremely my jam.

Despite my vegetarianism, I checked out this cookbook due to my podcast's affinity for Steaks and Cakes. I cannot speak to the steak recipes but almost all of the cake recipes seemed pretty elaborate, requiring pans/tools that a novice baker like myself does not own. If you are a fancy baker and/or fancy steaker perhaps this will be for you. I made the PBJ cupcakes out of this because I DO have a muffin tin. They were...fine. I enjoyed the story attached to the POTUS carrot cake--apparently her aunt was a White House chef and Gerald Ford asked for the recipe for her carrot cake, and the aunt said no because it was a family recipe, and this B Elizabeth is just out here giving the recipe to ANYBODY.

I did not make the carrot cake though because it looked really hard.

this was honestly p entertaining, despite me knowing nothing about pro wrestling, but wow Dwayne J has GROWN since 2000. it is impossible to imagine Family Entertainer Dwayne Johnson talking about losing his virginity in such a sketchy fashion.

I enjoyed the Revenge Girl roadtrip of it all, and the intense friendship between Winona and Lucille. Some of their adventures felt a little over the top but ultimately satisfying, and I think teen readers especially will find their overcoming of hardships to be inspirational and validating.

yesssss this is my SHIT, love an urban fantasy about how old rich white people ruin everything. Love how grounded this is, love the characters (except the ones I HATE), just love ittt

I loved the original Crossover but this graphic novel adaptation is also wonderful! The art is so bold and I LOVE the way the lettering plays with size/shape/placement of words to really capture the rhythm of the poems/raps.
