¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(I did finally unsubscribe to this; I'm still glad Marvel hired TNC for this particular book but it's just like not for me)

I'll agree with other reviews that this Melissa Morbeck plotline wasn't my FAVE Squirrel Girl arc, but still, very sweet and hilarious and very worth my while.

Squirrel Girl + Dinosaurs + Doombots = yessss

also it looks like this trade will include the standalone "zine" issue which was AMAZING, 5 Stars for Brain Drain's inspirational zine alone

I feel likeeeeeeeee the thing about these being set in the world of Bitch Planet but not moving forward the main plot is that it just really depressed me, like for the same reasons I haven't watched Handmaid's Tale show yet...like I feel like I'm not ready for satire about extreme patriarchy right now, maybe in a few years or something. Also I appreciate the concept of having all these short stories with great authors/artists but they are all so short I never got that invested in any of them.

Just not really my cup of tea. As ever the single issues include great interviews and other back matter though.

Aw I'm so happy for Barney! And I think a lot of younger readers will be hype for the return of more Greek mythology-based stuff. (Keep it on your Percy Jackson readalikes list, librarians!)

I subscribed to this when it first came out bc I read so many "ahh yay a fat superheroine" type posts and I was like "yeah totally!" and then I never got around to reading it until now. I do love the art and Faith as a character.....but I never realized that this is a spin-off of something else and it was a little confusing? I feel like I basically got it just due to basic superhero tropes in play but it was a little disorienting. So...heads up about that I guess. Based on what I'd remembered seeing when this first came out I had thought this was her first appearance as a character and it deffo is not.

Still: hooray, Faith!

uhh IDK how to rate this? It was a fundraiser for a great cause and you can tell everyone was proud to contribute to it, and I was happy to give them money in exchange for this (although I'm late in actually reading it). It kind of has the overall effect of a printed-out Tumblr, especially a lot of the single-panel images.

Also some of the comics that used actual superheroes seemed a little cringey to me, like......why is Batman investigating the crime scene at the Pulse nightclub............why are we doing this

But some of them, like the Harley & Ivy and the Supergirl ones, I thought were very sweet. Overall it's a moving collection, especially as a gesture from an industry that hasn't been the most queer-friendly.
