I really enjoyed this book, but it took me a while to get through it. I had to get into the different style of the writing, which is interesting and definitely different from any other books I've read. I loved the characters (especially Twoflower) and had so much fun following them through crazy adventures. Discworld is an awesome setting and I will definitely be reading more. Whenever I picked this book up it entertained me and confused me at the same time. Really fun.
This is a wonderful and super entertaining book! Its a great summer read!
I can see why this is a classic book and I'm glad it was short, because the animals running the farm was starting to freak me out a little bit. It so brilliantly shows how governments can form and I appreciated the introduction that explained the time period when this book was published. I wish I could have seen people's reaction to this clear re-telling of certain government officials. It was amazing to see how a revolution turned into a dictatorship that is WORSE than the original situation the animals were in. It was especially interesting to see how the rules kept changing, former leaders were turned into evil enemies, and memories were questions if they clashed with the leaders. But of course according to the leaders, the farm is doing better! Something everyone should read.
Marlee! She was one of my favorite characters in this series and I was so excited to read about events from her POV. Finally we get to understand how she and Carter became the couple who would risk their lives for each other. I missed her bubbly spirit and appreciated that this book had an overall happy tone (even though she and Carter got in trouble and suffered).
This is 3 stars in terms of my own personal enjoyment, but I think it is a very good book. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but decided to give this one a try. There just wasn't enough action for me, especially since Ged spends a lot of time on his own. This was darker than I had expected, because it is a lonely road for Ged to I'm sure there are many lessons in this book.....only say things you mean (the power of words and names), and that instead of running from your fears you should meet them head on. Ged sees many people and things and has to get out of many dangerous situations. I liked the ending and the fact that it wasn't a cliff-hanger at all.
I wish I could have listened to this as an audiobook. The writing is really beautiful and you can tell it was written with great care. I think if I could listen to it being told as a story, I would have liked it a lot better. This was a short book, but it took longer to read it. I may continue with Ged's story later.

I love revisiting Lochdubh and the over the top characters there. Hamish Macbeth grows on me more and more. There is quite the scandal in this sleepy little town and it was interesting to follow the story. I love the way MC Beaton spends a good amount of time building the character of the soon-to-be murdered so we can get a real idea of the character before his/her demise. Then Macbeth goes against the rules to find out the true murderer....sometimes it seems like he is the only one who really cares about finding the truth. Typical Blare sabotage attempt for humor/drama. I also appreciate how much Macbeth cares about the people in his village and will do anything to protect them if he can; even the annoying people.
