Just didn't vibe with it. Tone wise didn't find anything to connect with. Boring.
meh, just wasn't vibing with it. Might pick it back up another time. I've struggled with getting into middle grades lately, which is a bit sad since they can be such pure fun, but they pacing just isn't hitting.
I don't think I've ever DNF'd anything aside from 50 Shades before 25% before, but I just couldn't keep going with this. Gal was my least favorite character in the first book, just intensely unlikeable and this one somehow made him worse. The setting is boring, the characters have been stripped of anything that made them somewhat interesting the first time around, and there is nothing happening to redeem any of it at all. I even tried audio at 2x speed and it still felt like I was being dragging through glass for every line. Gal's inner monologue is so absolutely horrible. Whiny, shady, boring, snotty, boring, angsty, angry, boring, poorly plotting, snide, boring. I'm sure if I could black out and wake up to experience only Wyn's scenes it would be ok.
This is the first book I've dnf'd in actual years. Slow paced doesn't begin to cover it. This book drones. The author managed to take the basis of some fascinating tales and remove all the bits that promised to be interesting and leave behind only the most dull and frustrating.
