This was really good! The messages and themes were pretty straightforward, but i loved how everything tied together in the end. I do wish they’d fleshed it out at the end a bit more cause I was confused on some aspects of it. Overall, though, this was a unique and enjoyable read with beautiful art and a wonderful message to be proud of your heritage and who you are.

It’s official. I’m going to embark upon a journey to read every word Mary Oliver wrote because she is amazing. If you want to think about the world and grow to really appreciate everything this wild and precious life has to offer, she is your gal. She redefines the “essay” so don’t let that turn you away—all of her writing reads like poetry because she as a person sings with every word she writes.
“We’re human. All we are are beautiful contradictions.”
This didn’t even come close to how awesome Page by Paige was, but it was still a fun, quick read! I love how Gulledge really takes advantage of the medium she’s writing in. It makes every panel such a delight and interesting to study. I also thought by the title that this would be a romance, but that’s really not what the book was about (the Whit in the title was not a person) and I loved that.

This was such a delightful read! I got an arc from the publisher. The illustrations were very well done, especially given that one of the main characters was a stone. Watson did an excellent job conveying emotions through the expressions of its eye.
The end of the story felt a little weak to me, and could have used some fleshing out, but overall the plot was strong and simple. Kerry was super cute and friendly, and I loved how altruistic he was, even though it might have gotten him into some tight spots. It teaches that everyone has good in them, somewhere. There was a line from Kerry that said, “I don’t mean you should put your faith in everyone, only that it’s worth trying to see the best in them.” I think that sums up his character really well, and some of the deeper themes of the story.

I just picked this up randomly at the library and after reading the first story I was like, “UMMM. WHAT?”
In other words, this was an eerie, strange, and chilling collection of short tales in a graphic novel format. The artwork was stunning, and the stories it depicted were odd and strange but gave me chills every time. It’s a quick read, so if you’re in the mood for something spooky and visually delightful, this is the book for you!
